I've Won an Award!

I can't believe I have won this award. When I first started blogging I really never thought that someone would actually read it, let alone appreciate what I put in it.

Thank-you Jane from 'Days Of Our Lives' for giving me this award-You really don't know how much this means to me.

You know, I don't have any 'real life' friends, so to receive a friendship award is an awesome testament that you can make good friends over the Internet.

Also to everyone who has been reading my blog I want to say a Big THANK-YOU for making me feel very welcomed to this world of blogging, from all your replies I can tell you are all a bunch of great people to know.

I look forward to getting to know all of you much better.

My fire and ice girl.................Love her to bits,but I just cant help but think that she will be giving me trouble when she grows up.She already does,she is just like a mini-me but a better,more finely tuned model.I give myself trouble,and to have a smaller version of myself running around giving me more trouble is a feat within itself,and trippy to say the least.

She is repeating grade prep ands it's doing her the world of good.Her confidence is higher so her standard of work is heaps better.She is so intellegent.She reads and does maths and enjoys it.She will be 6 on thursday.

World Autism Awareness Day!

Today is 'World Autism Day' I thought I should write something about it seeing though my son suffers from Asbergers(or what he calls 'Hamburgers') I think I am still in the 'denial' stage of his illness as I didn't even know that it was Autism day....my bad!

"I work my guts out" This is what I hear on a regular basis from my dear little 7 year old.

I have to give it to him though-he really does work hard for this family,he looks after his baby sisters,organises his big brother and does what I ask of him straight away.

I love this kid with all my heart,he is funny,charming,gorgouse and wise beyond his years, to say the least.

He has glasses for a lazy eye and they dont seem to be working-so we have to go and get another opinion from the specialist. They are suggesting that he has an opperation.We'll see how that goes......

April Fools.....

Does anyone do anything for April Fools Day? We dont usually.Have you ever had a prank played on you? I am just interested in what people do to other people in the name of 'fun'.

Aidan....

My Son Aidan.......

I call him 'My Saving Grace'
He made me what I am today-A Mum! He is a typical 9and ahalf year old boy except that he has a 'Label'

Aidan has Asbergers,A.D.D and other auditory processing and learning problems,but that doesnt stop him from being a 'typical boy'.

The last few years have been a rollercoaster for us,dealing with programs,classes,psychologists,therapies,but the other day we had an appointment with his school and they told us that he was doing really well! His reading has improved and so has his behaviour! I was stunned,quite shocked to say the least as its been a while since we have had any positive input like that.

Unfortunately this is this week and we have grown accustomed to preparing ourselves for many letdowns.So even though this is really good news,I have to not allow myself to get too happy about it. I have relayed our excitement to Aidan and for now things seem to be working for us!

Good on you Aidan- Keep up the good work!

This is a poem that I live by-

Or when I cant be stuffed cleaning the house

BEING A PARENT

The house is untidy from window to door,

Marks on the walls and food on the floor.

The washing's unwashed,

And the dishes are too,

There's scum in the bathroom

And fat on the stew.

There are toys in the passage,

And under our feet;

The garden's a jungle

When seen from the street.

So what have I done, then

To earn my repose?

To just look around me

You'd say no-one knows!

I've held a small hand

As her first steps she took

I've made animal noises

As we read from a book.

I've built a mud pie

And admired a snail

I've rescued the cat

From a grip on it's tail.

I've wiped away tears,

And I've listened to tales

I've used mediation

To get smiles from wails.

So I guess what I've done

Isn't easy to see--

It wont clean the house

And it wont cook the tea

But if I have helped a child feel good

Know that she is loved

And that she is understood,

Then I know that my work,

Though not easy to see

Is just as important as any could be..........
